Michelle Oyola McGovern has over two decades of political, government and community experience. Michelle began her career in public service with the Florida Department of Children and Families. Her career saw her work for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, first in his DC office, then as Regional Manager for Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast (the first in the region by a U.S. Senator from FL). Michelle’s job was to meet with community and local elected officials to discuss policy initiatives and identify federal funds to support local projects. A proactive leader, Michelle was promoted to state director from Senator Nelson, overseeing a team of 10 regional directors and staff in seven regional offices across Florida. Michelle worked in these public advocacy roles with Senator Nelson for 18 years.

Michelle now holds the position of Director of Government and Community Relations for a major health system. She focuses on creating, guiding and fostering positive relationships. Her work helping local leaders and the community address important health and medical issues over the past two years has provided Michelle with critical experience that will prove essential as our county deals with the impacts of COVID-19. and other issues.

Michelle also currently serves—or has served—in numerous organizations, including past president and board member of the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches; founding member and first president of West Palm 100; former president and board member of SunFest; Director of the Palm Beaches Chamber of Commerce; Member of the President’s Circle (Director) of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce; and director of the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce. Michelle was most recently Treasurer of the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County and Chair of its Mayor’s Ball, and she is Chair of the Palm Beach County Women’s Advisory Commission, where she continues her advocacy efforts on behalf of women and of the girls.

Michelle is the proud mother of two daughters and the wife of Wellington Village Councilor John. Michelle comes from a large Puerto Rican family; she is the eldest of four sisters. A pioneer in her own way, Michelle was the first in her family to attend university. Her parents instilled in her a passion for service and the importance of hard work, honesty and integrity in everything she sets out to do. Michelle, John and their two daughters live in the Village of Wellington in Palm Beach County, Florida.
